We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Obstetrics and Gynecology Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. This position will act as an MA 2-3 days a week and the other 2-3 days a week will be the Front Desk check in.

- Takes patients to examining rooms to prepare them for the physician / Takes detailed medical histories and determines the reason for the visit.
- Interviews patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height / Records patient's medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records.
- Prepares rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms clean and stocked.
- Presents patient history summary and alerts physicians to patient changes.
- Pull lab charts and annotate patient charts with exam and treatment results.
- Assists with in-office examinations and medical procedures including LEEP procedures, IUD insertion, colposcopies, among others.
- Helps physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments or materials or performing such tasks as giving injections or removing sutures.
- Coordinates patient tests and follow-up care. Schedules surgeries, calling surgical center, verifying times with patients, and preparing charts, pre-admission, and consent forms. Schedules patients with other doctors for consultation as required.
- Counsels patients in the office and on the phone concerning treatment procedures, medications, diets, or physicians' instructions to patients.
- Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing.
- Authorizes drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies.
- Cleans and sterilize instruments, dispose of contaminated supplies / Wash, and prepare speculum for autoclave.
- Prepares and administer medications as directed by a physician.
- Performs routine laboratory tests and sample analyses.
- As needed, operates equipment to administer routine diagnostic tests, contacts medical facilities or departments to schedule patients for tests or admission, inventories, and orders medical, lab, or office supplies or equipment.
- Other back-office duties as assigned*.
- Skilled in organization, customer service, and attention to detail.
- Possess exceptional communication and relational skills.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct to the appropriate departments
- Check patients in and out of their appointments
- Maintain and update schedules for patients
- Enter new patient demographics and patient financial information into the computer system
- Maintain office appearance and ensure office equipment is in working order/restrooms are clean and tidy
- Alert providers/Staff of appointment notifications, patient arrivals, and delay of schedules
- Process and forward insurance information to the appropriate internal department for processing
- Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles
- Perform end of day batch closing for reconciliation of all patient payments
- Verify insurance and eligibility for scheduled patients
- Time management abilities
- Good judgment and decision-making skills
- Working knowledge of insurance plans and their rules
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to handle a high volume of clients with skill and confidence
- Perform other duties, as delegated
